    Arrow Sony Alpha transfer rates

Has anyone tried benchmarking their CF or SD memory cards?

Is a 9MB/s transfer rate (new CF card) from the camera to the computer over USB 2.0 in the norm? What numbers are others getting?

The camera really slows things down. There was almost no difference in speed between an old CF card and a new UDMA card in my a700.

Kinda depends on the camera. DPReview tests camera transfer speeds. I'd use a card reader. It's easier and faster. I use a Lexas UDMA usb reader and can hit 30MB/s on my 30mb/s rated cards.

I tried a friends Kingston 266x card on my a700 for a day and it was noticeably faster than my 133x cards were.
