    Yes, Sir..
I did quote other sites....isnt that what we were asked to do, we were asked to give our own reason why we thought Mr Don should replace his lens which at th bottom of my information I have done , and other than that we were asked for any supporting evidence and comparison details in supporting it, now Im not sure what I have done to offend you but answering I just did what I was asked and gave my opinion and replyed to the challenge question, I am truley sorry if I offended anyone

Wink Opiniions are like ... well, you should know the rest

You just read and follow instructions better than some, "Cascade..."

Water off a duck's back ... it is a competition, so get a thick skin and read through the content of the forum. Pay attention to the multi-star rated threads, most have some decent exchanges and points of view.

Welcome to the forum ... and ... dig in!

Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

You'd have to do a lot worse than that to offend anyone on this forum. We don't even mind when our photos are constructively criticised.
It could be argued that you should have précised the information somewhat with links to the full article, but in the main you answered the brief. Anyway, you get my vote thus far.

It would be nice to know what camera and lens you are currently using.

    my gear

    To All,
thanks for the confidence with my posting, I sometimes fear posting as I realize there are many camera enthusist out there from all over with great shots and maybe some not so great shots and many opinions about their subjects and what their opinion is for good and bad gear.
I myself am just starting out and looking to start my business next month, it does revolve around photography but is not solely my goal, its more like photography keepsakes you can share with everyone I am very excited about my goals and hope I do well.
As far as what I have for equipment right now I have a Sony a350k camera and two lenses my first is a Sony 3.5-5.6/18-70 which came with the camera when I purchased it my second lens I bought at the same time is a Sony 4.5-5.6/75-300 lens, I currently have no filters, but hope to get some soon, I am working with photoshop cs3 and cs4 for photoshopping, but am still learing how to do that as well my other equipment includeds a cheep tripod from comp usa, I make due with what I have...and hope I can get better and be a better photographer as time goes along my feeling are you are only as good as you let yourself to be and adapt to each situation with what you have in hand.....cheesy I know but just a little about myself since Im new
I'm a mother of three a step mom to two and a grand mother of one all at 38 and a wife to a Army vet, or will be Vet by months end and is why I am trying so hard to make myself better at what I do since I will become the family bread winer in the days to come, but hey you get what life throws at you and take it with a great big photographic grin
The reason I applied to the contest is I am on a low budget starting out and more lenses and versatilty with each lens I can reach out to the better photographer I hope to become.
Thankyou for welcoming me to the forum as other forums I have joined have not given me such the welcome, I look forward to sharing my info photos and joys of my upcoming life.

Welcome to the forum. When you post images from Flickr you need to insert them from the Insert Image icon on the top. Hope this helps. You might want to start a new thread with your images.

    Cool

I believe Don should purchase the SONY AF 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens to replace his Tokina AT-X 840 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 and TAMRON SP AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD lens for the following reasons:

    1) the 70-400g is being praised throughout the known universe.
    2) the shelf holding said lenses will soon break and dump them on the floor, so get value for them now!
    3) I'd like to see that atx 840 on my camera - oops, the Tamron 70-300, what was I thinking?

Seriously, that G sounds amazing if you can carry it.. but owning the other two for barbells gives me confidence you can do it. If I had an 850 I'd feel compelled to feed it the best glass I could afford, and those two lenses should provide a boost. You're sure the 840 can't handle your FF needs?

several lenses but none >210mm.. isn't that tragic, Don? ;-(

Very few Model II ("D") were released by Tokina, after Minolta closed its doors. They discontinued the mount and only Nikon and Canon mounts are currently produced
I had wondered if they discontinued the Minolta mount around the time between original and II versions - thanks for explaining that. Not many reviews on that lens in any source, but the auction-site has two of 'em right now, taunting me.

I should amend my pathetic prior post by noting that my Minolta s.o.b. (son of beercan, the 70-210 f/3.5-4.5) pairs up decently with my 1.7x mystery TC.. certainly less purple than that ATX at 360mm effective. Trimmed & sharpened in Elements, but no color corrections. And it's around 550 grams
