    i went to look for your dot and all i found was this big thing!!

    It comes out a little bright but i hit it with the tone curve and all the colors drop into place

    That is damned well done handheld, then. My longest lens is 600MM EFL, and I couldn't imagine trying to handhold a moonshot (arthritic wrists/shaky hands notwithstanding).
    It helps if you dial in a -1 to -2/3 exposure compensation for shooting the moon.

    It seems to lose to much if i drop it down..i took some at 100-500..but didn't get as good a detail

    Well, if you're willing to put some serious effort in to your shooting setup you can make up for some of the lost zoom.
