none of them are worth upgrading to from an a300 imo. wait for the next gen apsc.
i agree with elisha though ,the LCD is a massive difference.

I didn't see a huge difference on the A700 to be honest. It would really help with live view that's for sure.

As for trade in, in 2 years, both cameras will be worth close to each other and it won't be an extraordinary amount, don't worry about it. $200 difference today, maybe $50 difference then.

7 FPS is also without changing the focus point in the 550. They both feature 5 fps I believe which is great and plenty for both.

The one 900k screen I've really been impressed with is the Panasonic LX3. That thing is incredibly sharp, it's quite unreal.

Okay, it's settled then ... the A550 it is ... enough jibber-jabber. Just buy it Brian and finally, someone around here will have a new camera to talk about.

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

It is? I was kinda leaning towards the A500. but I think the LV would be incredible at 921k pixels.

I'm still trying to figure out why I need the a550 over the a500. I use live view maybe 5% of the time and FPS doesn't matter to me at all either. Lol I,m not upgrading I am just to lazy to switch lens's. once i put the 11-18 on my a300 it hasn't came off yet. such an amazing lens

Live view is great if you are running it to a big screen...otherwise there is realy no point...just by a point and shoot

If you liked the Nikon 50/1.8, I think you'll really like the Sony 50mm F/1.4.

Have you seen my unboxing video?
