LOL I thought you would have drank and swallowed the contents of the manual by now since you owned the body since 2006.
I have yet to touch the manual of the a700. I have the PDF on my desktop though and did look up what a few things did in the beginning.

I find that if i start using the camera first, I forget all about the manual since I just learn by messing with things.
I have the Gary Friedman a700 e-book and have yet to pass page 12 on it.

I know I have had plenty of time to digest the α850 manual, since its "secreted" release. LOL It was like reading the α900, Second Edition.

Anyway ... again, keeping the manuals handy allows for a clear definition of features and functions, should the need arise. Personally, I still would like the manual as a "readable file" on the LCD of the camera, downloadable to the memory cards you have in the camera.

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

I've barely touched the manual or any other guide books. It crossed my mind to get a guidebook since I was quite unfamiliar with the buttons, but it was easy to learn through trial and error.
