Should serious photographers forget APS-C cameras?

that backlit sensor concept has been around for a heck of a long time. its hard to say if the design itself is the issue or whether they are just struggling to actually figure out how to implement the design. this is well outside my depth of understanding that's for sure.

I think I understand the concept well enough. Removing the circuitry from it's blocking position in front of the Photo Diode makes so much sense that you wonder why they ever put the electronics at the front in the first place. There must have been some over riding technical or manufacturing necessity, I guess.
I read somewhere that the Backlit technology is more effective on small sensors than large sensors due to the area of wiring being proportionally larger on the smaller sensor. If true, DSLR Exmor R may not have such a big impact on noise levels as we may have wished.

regardless of whether it works or not its good to see at least ONE manufacturer trying to improve sensor design.

lol, why would he? Nikon would adopt said sensor and make it better (judging from history, d3x, d300, d90, d5000, etc...)

So Nikon would probably be another 0.5 miles ahead in that respect. lol...... I hope I'm wrong.

Sony couldn't resist selling their sensors. When you've invested as much as Rooz has in glass and strobes, I can't see it happening

nope. for a few reasons that come to mind:

1. i dont think it can happen, (being miles better)
2. hi iso isnt that important to me
3. i dont like using sony bodies
4. not sure if i trust sony in the hi end dslr market just yet; i get the feeling they want to make low-mid range products.
5. the glass lineup isnt where i want it to be
6. no CLS or access to nikons flash system
7. lack of support
8. Don shoots sony

never say never and inbody IS for every lens does have its appeal; but sony doesnt offer me anything to make me want to switch.

LOL. I believe SU-4 mode works fine on the SB flashes with Sony pop-up flash but ratio control is what is important.

If the sensor is any good, Sony might play dirty and delay selling to Nikon to gain a march on them.
Who knows what their contract says.
I can't see that Nikon can be entirely happy having to rely on a competitor for its sensors. Maybe they are negotiating elsewhere.
