    If I use my 16-80 on my a700 at 16mm I get vignetting. So I would say they can't guarantee the use of DT lenses on the a700.

    Question Why all the waiting???

    Is that with a filter on it, Tom? If so, you might try the low-profile filter for the wide shots. I bought my 77mm Low-Profile CP for just that reason, on my 10-20mm f/4-5.6 SIGMA. It does not have any threads on the front of it for a lens cap to catch on to, so I bought a press-on type, which actually fits on the outside of the filter.

    If no filter ... it's a post processing crop.


    Back to the topic ... I been sitting here, wondering ... THIS "change" is what took six months to produce (since PMA 09 - March 2009 - they could have just silk-screened a "α850" label on a α900 body and put it in the glass box at the show - something - anything!)? A cut down α900? No new production line, just some guy with a soldering gun modifying a circuit board? Guys, guys ... c'mon ... there has to be something else missing.

    It has me asking ... "Why the wait?" It's just an α900 Version ... ½

    At 16mm I get it even without a filter.

    A900 redux

    From what I can tell, the A850 is the same body as the A900, with slower burst rate 3 fps vs. 5.9 fps, and no wireless remote commander.

    Makes me wonder if they are going to start offering a greater ISO range in the A900 or TBD A1000???

    The price is supposed to be "1/3 less than the current a900," so it's sub $2k

    i dont see what the problem is. its a cheaper fx camera, mainly cos the a900 doesn't sell for shit. its a good move from sony, at least from a potential sales POV. you're just whinging don.
