Well, rumors are officially fact. Nikonrumors.com has all the links. I'm with rooz though, not really excited about anything being announced today.

yepp, its all official now. pretty basic non events really. the current 18-200 had lots of room for improvement, but i dont know how much better the 70-200 can be that the "old" version. we shall see i suppose. i suspect it will be fractionally better in the centre and alot better corner to corner. they also claim faster AF...that would be...WOW !

Nothing unexpected in the two cameras but I'm suffering from GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) again...

Main changes in the D300s seems to be extra fps and video mode. Same 12.3mp on the same sensor. It has dual slots to accept both CF and SD cards.

Not sure what the D3000 brings to the table though.

    Would like that lens though

Nothing really tempting about the announcements except maybe the new 70-200 which I won't be able to afford for a while anyway. But hopefully will make the older one cheaper.

Well I don't mind the fact that the D700 has dropped by just over 1G here (NZ) and the 70-200 isn't far behind.

Anyone know if they have dropped the prices in Aus???

There is one Sydney dealer offering D300 bodies for about $300 less today than last week but I suspect that is just to clear stock. In the last couple of weeks the same dealer has been selling 70-200 f2.8's for about $250 less than normal.

Who is that? I'd be keen to get a D300 if the price was right.

    Cheers.

:\ The excitement wore off quickly when I saw the $2400USD price tag to that 70-200mm. That price is absurd!

It's a shame too the D300s is only a minor revision, but I guess that's expected, wonder if any other improvements in IQ were made.
