The 850 (800 series) will probably have a lower pixel count and sit under the a900 as an affordable FF camera.

if they can do this @ <$2k and nail the camera performance they will have a really serious winner on their hands. the rest of it looks pretty standard sorta stuff.

the big question is...will they get AF in movie mode right or will it be half assed like canon's ? nikon havent even bothered so they obviously have no clue how to make it right.

All joking aside, this simply isn't Sony's marketing plan. Premium products at a premium price, with price cuts later to coincide with decreased production costs.
They do not cut prices to gain market share, and too low a price cut will cannibalize the sales of the A900 (which is still ~2700 body only from any respectable retailer).

well, the rumours are that it will be a baby FX. so if that's the case, then its gotta be around that $2k mark doesn't it ?

Ok, my source (friend) has told me that it will have the same sensor, the A900's 24.6MP CMOS and will be of a lesser build quality than the A900. It will also only have a 98% viewfinder.

No word on price, yet. But I still think it will be $1800-$2000 USD about $700-$900 less than the current price of the A900. I'm also guessing the kit lens (earlier introduced 28-75mm SAM) will probably add $250.

that link is related to the xr500v handycam which has the exmor R sensor. nevertheless, it's an interesting concept and only time will tell how successful it is.

I know. I'm just making the point that the Exmor R sensor can't be far away from the DSLR.
