    Hoodman HoodEye?

Having (not surprisingly) lost the my eyecup on my XTi on a recent outing, has anyone tried the Hoodman HoodEye http://hoodmanusa.com/products.asp?dept=1061? A little pricey at $30, but it's supposed to attach more securely than the Canon and provides better side light blockage (one of the peeves I have with the stock eyecup). I guess it also blocks the LCD a bit and I wonder if it impairs the display dimming sensor (which may be a non-issue with the more effective eyecup?).

I lost my eyecup last year. Local canon dealer does not have stock for it and does not think it's financially a nice idea to order them. So I never bothered....I've been using the camera without it and I have no issues with it...

If the original eyecup worked OK for you, take a look at ebay for Canon eyecups. There are plenty there, cheap, and alot with free shipping.

Yeah, I've seen the Canon replacements available, but the HoodEye looked sort of interesting and I wasn't always happy using the OE eyecup.

What makes the HoodEye $30 and the eBay one $3.55?

Well, I like the fact that you can spin the HoodEye around, but I still don't think it's worth that much more than the HongKongEye
