What is the "fastest" zoom for a Sony? I know there's a 24-135mm f2.8/4.5, but are there others basically in this focal range? I'm talking $300 or less (used probably). Thanks.
The only one that comes close off the top of my mind is the Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 or the 28-75mm F/2.8.
Canon 7D - 5D | 550EX - 430EX II - (2) PW FlexTT5 | 24-105 f4L | 70-200 f2.8L IS | 100 f2.8L IS | 50 f1.8 II
About the fastest you're going to get with a zoom is f/2.8. Tamron has a line-up of:
Tamron SP AF 17 - 50mm f/2.8 XR DI-II LD Aspherical (IF) Standard Zoom Lens (designed for APSC sized sensor) for about $460
Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD-IF Autofocus Zoom Lens (suitable for FF sensor) for about $465
Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for about $730
Sigma 18mm - 50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro Autofocus Zoom Lens (remember "DC" designates for APSC sized sensor cameras) for about $420
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX Aspherical DG DF AutoFocus Standard Zoom Lens for about $570
Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG AutoFocus Wide Angle Zoom Lens for about $380
Sigma 50 - 150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM II Normal-to-Telephoto Zoom for about $780
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro HSM II Auto Focus Telephoto Zoom Lens for about $800
After that, you're looking at the pricy CZ lenses like the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 ZA SSM Vario-Sonnar T Digital SLR Lens with Hood & Case, by Carl Zeiss for about $1,900 or the Sony 24 - 70mm f/2.8 Vario-Sonnar ZA Digital SLR 0.25x Zoom Lens with Super Sonic Wave Motor for about $1600.
But hey its only money. Right.
