I love catching lightning..just a wee bitty storm but i got some shots off..
with the a900 25 mp i can chop off most of the pic to get a nice crop with lots of resolution left...(these are still sqeezed down to fit here though)
note the scary eye in the second pic top left...spoooooky eh

Those are some cool shots. I don't get many opportunities here in So Cal. to photograph lightning, but it's high on the list of things to do.

get your self an interval timer...set it one second more than your shot time and let it rip..
