James Nachtwey - MUST see for all photographers

it has been a long time since something in photography smacked me across the chops.

i was enlightened to James' work recently and it is something i'd like to share with you all, some of you may already know his body of work and know of him. for those that do, this is a stark reminder of his brilliance. for those that don't, welcome to a profound moment....

take some time to view, have a cup of coffee, immerse yourself in the beauty and the horror of James' world, our world.

Man that's some deep and scary stuff.
Throwing a rock and getting a tear gas grenade in return sort of puts things in perspective.
Those of us who are old enough probably remember the two photos that did more to end the Vietnam war than all the carpet bombing, the Vietcong prisoner being shot in the head and the little girl (who I think now lives in LA) running naked away from the napalm.

Rooz if the subject interests you get hold of a copy of One Crowded Hour by Tim Bowden. It's the story of the Australian war camera man Neil Davis who managed to film his own death in a coup in Bangkok in 1985.
