Going to Banff

Nick, I am way late to this thread (and posting here in general), but going to Banff is going to be a great trip.

If you haven't left already, you should definitely take the time to travel along the Icefields Parkway, maybe stay a night in Lake Louise or Jasper to reduce whirlwind tour of an all day trip. Definitely the most scenic road highway in the US or Canada that I've seen. Even if you're not going back country hiking, there are a lot of short hikes you can take that are along the road and will give you some very good landscape shots of glaciers and mountains.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm definately going to have to take a road trip when I'm up there! I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for good hiking trails too.

We went to the Canadian Rockies three summers ago. It is a beautiful place. Definitely head north from Banff to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Also be sure to check out Peyto Lake. I also highly recommend the Icefield Parkway, but it will take you most of a day to work your way from Banff to Jasper with all the stops you will want to make.

We saw lots of elk and a grizzly bear along Bow Valley Parkway that runs north from Banff to Lake Louise. There are some great landscape shots along this drive, too.

I watched a movie called "One Week" with Joshua Jackson over the weekend. They had scenes of Banff and I think the hotel you're going to stay at Nick. Reminded me of this thread
