Vacation, what camera to bring?
I will be going to Florida in a few days and don't know what I want to bring.
Should I bring the D40 with the 18-55 or 55-200vr (don't want to bring both). I also have a canon A590IS that I will bring. The A590IS takes good pics for a point and shoot. Should I even bring the D40? I'm also bringing my canon HF100 HD video camera. To many cameras..........

christ...I take a lot of photos with my 55-200 and now, the 70-200. However, I would never limit myself to one lens.
I would take the 18-55 if you really had to pick one...at worst, you can crop to zoom.

I think it might also depend on what type of vacation you are taking, where you are going, and what kind of pics you expect to take with it.

I think three cameras and two hands does not add up.
I thought about who I am... and realized I was an
unformed, unreconciled imagery, without "GOD"
NikonD?
and some other Nikon stuff

I'd say D40 and both lenses (but if only one, the 18-55). I took a vacation to Jamaica when I had just got my D80 but I was too scared to bring it (the sand & water thing was freakin me out) and only brought my Canon P&S. The picture opportunities were everywhere and they came out great but I REALLY regretted not bringing my D80.
don't really know on the video camera.. it's a different subject.. i mean, it's a totally different beast.. if you're going with family then it's a no-brainer and i'd say definitely bring it..
i dunno, bringin 3 cameras would be a lil overkill in my book.

I'm going to Orlando and will probably head out to the Space center one day then do the Disney stuff the rest of the week. I don't really want to bring the D40 into the parks.

My current plan for France in August will be my Canon A610 for day shots, and the D40 with my future 35mm AF-S DX lens for night time shots.
Actually, I don't think I use zoom much on my A610, so the D40 with the prime may become the main shooting camera.

You have answered your own question. There is no point in taking a camera just to leave it in a Hotel room so take the P&S and the video camera.

If you can live without the SLR, go for it. Personally, I couldn't.

I couldnt live without my dSLR. Heck, I backpacked around Europe with it for 3 months, carrying it on my own back everywhere i went because it felt like a crime to be 'stuck' with only my P&S by comparison.
