That's a great price!
Gosh Ryan, we ought to have Elisha do our camera, buying, eh? That's sizable savings. What can you get the A900 w/ grip for? LOL

Ooh, that is a good deal. Henry's is such a cool place. They have a ton of nice Cameras and lens selection (Sony included). That's where I was able to try out a 24-70mm/2.8 CZ.
And the Sony store downtown at Eaton's has practically the entire Sony lineup (even the 300mm F/2.8)!

Do they rent that 300mm f/2.8 out to the public? That would be a hell of a return charge ... on your credit card. Someone said Simon's had a good price on camera's, too.

Yeah Simon's has the a900 for $2800 CDN but their a700 was not so cheap.
not too sure about the a900 grip. i'll have to look into it.
apparently the cost price of the a700 at Henry's was $945 CDN.

Looks like Simon's was pushing the SONY 16-105mm lens with the A700. Did not see a separate rate for BODY only.

i missed focus on a few of these as you can see. i set it to wide area and matrix metering. drive mode set to EV 0.7/3 frames. i changed nothing else in between shots.
some should have clearly been set to spot especially the guy with the guitar.
however the buttons on the a700 and menus are quite different from the a300 so i was a little lost.
after all, i brought the camera home, put on the neck strap, popped in the extra battery i had from the old camera, formatted mem card, updated fw and took off to the market!
any tips from a700 owners would be appreciated. i'll start another thread for that one.
all shot is cRAW and processed in LR 2.3

Definitely set it to the settings on your A300.
Spot focus is a must, WIDE is just too arbitrary. And center weighted is best.
As for that most shots are nice. That's a huge dog!

see i know what i did wrong but at the same time somewhere at the back of my mind i thought to myself that the a700 has 11 AF points as opposed to the 9 that the a300 had. so i left it at wide area focus hoping that it will use more focus points and get more objects in focus.
obviously i was wrong. so lesson learned here
btw what do you mean by center weighted? is that not for metering? i used matrix today but i use spot quite a bit when needed but i have yet to use center weighted average.
