radio trigger questions...
Okay, I got my hong kong triggers in. What's up with my speedlights going to sleep after a few mins of being idle and then needing to be poked back to life! blah!
I do not trust these cheap things to hold up the flash.
I've got a lot of missed syncs so far at 1/200, dark strip going through the frame but so far no misses.
Anyway does anyone know if I can keep the speedlights from going into standby??

Look in the manual - should be a custom function.
CFn#01 on the 580 EXII

Yeah my vivitars do that too, but i can't disable it.
Sometimes i just pull the shutter randomly to keep them alive, its really annoying especially when one of them ends up in a weird placing but sometimes, you can purposely place it in a awkward place just to reach around the model a bit.
Cough cough i mean i would never do that.

Maybe DonS can put his request for an info button on flashes too!

I'll one up his info button, i'll request a laser pointer to point to me the distance
Who needs to calculate guide numbers anymore? Not Moi.

Did you get it figured Nick? I use it all the time on my 430EX for the same reason as you... If left on standard, it powers off on my all the time (when its on a trigger).

I only said rtfm because every flash is different, and the custom functions are so cryptic....
430ex is cf1, set to 1.
