A bit of follow-up -> REMOTE CONTROL
While the "WIRELESS" approach is bound up by video transmission rates from the "Live" WebCam and image transmission from the a700 (a850/a900), the ture "tethered" or wired idea still is amazingly viable and robust.
All in all, as seen in the cost analysis, this is about the same as adding a new, medium quality zoom lens to your kit and it can do what no glass can ... get you up to 150-feet away from your subject, see around corners and get right into places where nature abhors human interaction. Obviously, you have to have a particular need for such a rig, but if you love "wild birds" or other "wild" observances, this is a solid solution to image capture of them, unfettered by your presence.
As it stands, only the a700/a850/a900 in the SONY DSLR line are capable of this "tethered" aspect and, personally, I find it is a very cool option to explore and build on.

A Photographer Is Forever
Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.
