Too bad your can't use Canon lenses on Nikon bodies. The D700 is pretty much everything the 5DmkII should have been, IMO.

That gives exactly the same results as I'd get using my Nikon AIS lenses on a Nikon digital camera. No loss for me

I liked the picture taken with the Canon. Not so struck on the photo from the Sigma.

    Isn't the 5d m2 a fair bit cheaper though ?

I havent checked the prices recently but i expected the 5dm2 to drop a bit.

B&H has the D700 for $2449 in your shopping cart. They have the 5d m2 listed as $2699, but is listed as backordered.

You can say that again. I was this close to selling all of my Canon kit for a pair of D700s last fall. If the resale value on this stuff wasn't so dismal I'd be there.

    Hah I can relate.

But you're doing well. I mean, you drive an import. I'm still driving a domestic.

Late last year I was strongly considering selling the 1D II and replacing it with two 40Ds or 50Ds. I started doing market research and saw that used prices totally tanked and I'd only be able to get one 50D out of the sale. So looks like I'm keeping it until it dies.

Upside...if/when I want another 1D II it'll be cheap. Or I could go with a 1Ds II for about what I paid for the 1D II.
    Ouch.
