I don't really know where you're going with this one Don, unless you're trying to push water uphill.
I've got nothing against manual focus, you well know I own and use several MF lenses, but that's not the point.
If you've just spent 600 on a 2.8f AF lens you should at least expect it "to do what it says on the tin", and the Tamron clearly doesn't deliver.
I wonder if Sean would buy this lens again if he could have his time over.

Yeah, my MF shots come out of focus quite often ahhaah. I only use it sometimes for macros where I can get up close and see what I'm doing. A lot of it has to do with this tiny VF though.

As for AF of the 70-200mm, it's only marginally faster on the A700 than my A300, it's still slow and bugs the crap out of me more and more every time I use it. A focus limiter on it would be an incredible addition.

Catching up on my reading guys, been away and out of town, At the point in time I bought the Tamron 70-200 and yes even today the price tag on the Sony 70-200 G is out of my range as a single purchase. Still being rather new to all this I am very pleased with the Tamron and I think it owuld be fine if it weren't for my interests in shooting sports and sports in low light likely the low end of performance on the Tamron. Someday in the next few years I feel I will make a major upgrade, a 200mm 2.8 prime, or a 70-300 Sony G.
