Snowboarding scare
We took our son, daughter, and grandson snowboarding and tubing withe some friends. They all had a great time until later in the day my friend gets a call from the first aid station saying that their son got hurt. As we ran to the first aid station we seen a MedEvac helicopter coming in for a landing along with two ambulances by the first aid station. When we got there they told us we couldn't go in because we had to wait for the helicopter to finish landing. The man by the first aid station would not tell us who the helicopter was coming for until I told him his son got hurt. Then he said it was for the this kid who hit a tree. That did not put us at ease until he pointed to the parents of the kid and said it was there kid. My friends son just hurt his wrist. The kid they took away in the helicopter hit the tree with his face and had neck pains. I don't know how he is doing. Here are some pictures.

Geez, thats really freaky. The picture of your son is excellent. Looks like something out of a magazine.

It is so hard to shoot with the sun reflecting off the snow. The sun had to be right over the top of the mountain too.
Thanks

Yeah, I have a lot to learn about the metering in the snow. I guess you lower the exposure compensation.

I tried everything. I used Adobe Camera Raw to try to recover the main part of the image.

"Increase" compensation by about +1.5EV for snow shots. This is not written in stone but should put you in the right ball park.

They put trees in some goofy places sometimes..just ask my vw..lol

Would this have been a handy use for a CPL? or is it better to try and +/- EV till it looks right? Also where are the pics of Frank on his snowboard? My daughter spent the long weekend outside of Buffalo NY snowboarding and had her point and shoot, may try and put some of those up later.

I think Frank always uses a CPL outdoors if I recall correctly.

I did have a CLP on. I kept checking the histogram but I couldn't help getting some blowouts because the sun was right over the top of the mountain. I was riding the Sony all day. I am to big and smart to strap a board to both feet and slide down a mountain. I did ski a few times when I was younger.
