yeah i've never had anyone in the U.S. hit on duty when i ship anything to them via Canada Post no matter how expensive the item was declared as.
not sure how Simon's shipped to you though.

I helped ship a $30 yoga mat from the US to Canada once for a friend, and she got nailed with more than $30 in customs fees

If you ship by FedEx or UPS, there's brokerage fees.
If it's by Canada post or USPS I believe there is none, was that what they used? Congrats, you don't have to change your name anymore.

It doesn't matter what carrier it is with. If it's going into Canada there are customs.

customs may be a different thing, but I meant brokerage fees from private carriers (UPS/Fedex) that they charge when they bring it through customs.
