    yes it is the durian fruit but no i have not eaten a durian cake before. i have had durian ice-cream. durian is the national fruit of Malaysia so i grew up around it and i didn't really like it until i was about 14 or so.

    Not a insult to your national fruit or anything, But it is a VERY ummmm unique taste/texture/aroma, really unlike anything else! I have only had it 'straight up' and you know what they sy what doen't kill you makes you stronger! Now in a cake with other flavors that might be intersting.

    it is an acquired taste for sure. i stinks if you are not used to the smell. but when used in other food, it does not smell or taste as strong.
    like i said, i used to hate it till i was in my teens.
    i actually once found it in Canada and bought it. but i only ate 1/4 of what i bought and the rest went bad and the fridge stunk.
