Good job glad you were still there to correct your shots.
Frank
Went back for a second look at the second shot. I see you shot this at iso 800 you can see some noise in the dark area. Did you use noise ninja or something? Still not bad at all. If you used a tripod you could have shot this at iso 400.

I liked your last posting, Millz and I took a few minutes to mess with the spectral exposure of it, because I wanted to boost the reflection a little to get the taller tower to show up. It worked, but I'm going to let you do it, yourself. The main shot is a much better overall exposure of the castle ... good work!

this is my biggest downfall i believe Don, I dont think i have the right software and to be completely honest i dont no what ur talking abut nor do i no how to do what you are saying. i tried goofing with it but the black starts to look like crap. i use some gimp although i must be honest i dont no how to use it and regular iphoto so if these arent the tools i need plese share of what i need to get. i've been so focused on the camera side i havent even begun the software side. its sad i no but its the truth.

Look, you have a lot more control over digital images than you would had you used a film camera, so there is always that.
Also, when you save your images ... they can always be modified at anytime, in the future ... so there is no rush. I, personally use Photoshop LightRoom 2and Photoshop CS3 for my file/image modification. That is a serious investment in software (roughly a grand, unless you are a student.) and most people don't spend for it.
So ... here is the "modified look" to the file.
What do you think ... not too extreme, eh? The reflected spire is a little better defined.
Then again, there is the Twilight Zone effect ...
for something quite different.
