Great, a fellow "Brit". WELCOME TO OUR WORLD! I'm repeating myself but who cares.
Even the "White Rose" is welcome here. Great pics.

Do you have a Sony as well as the Olympus or are you thinking about taking the plunge?

Hi Peek, My good lady bought me a Sony DSC-P52 Cyber-shot a couple of years back, but I wanted something a little better so she bought me an olympus E-410 which I'm still trying to get the hang of.
I have recently purchased a Zuiko40-150mm f3.5-4.5 lens. It's the best I can afford at the moment.

Can't comment on your lens, no experience but good images say more about the man than the machine.

Like what I do, you mean? And there I go, jumping to conclusions again; I should have checked your profile (I don't read manuals either).
Have you tried setting noise reduction off and sharpness +2 for the Landscape shots?

Listen, you Brummy Dummy, you don't need a PC to change camera settings (although I think you can on a Sony).

Edit: Oh Lor! could my attempt at humour be construed as a racist attack on Brummies? If the Moderator is watching, I AM NOT A RACIST!!! Mind, you have to watch your step with Brummies or they sic Japer Carrot on you.
