Anyone have First hand experience: Sigma 50 1.4?

Ive read some reviews and I am liking it so far... Especially compared to the Nikon 1.4G

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to pick up the Nikon, but it's double to the price of the Sigma

Sigma Bads (from reviews): Soft at Max Aperture

    input?

Here in Canada, the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens is about $180 (Canadian currency) more expensive than the new Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 lens.

They look like they're the same price on B&H. The Nikon is back-ordered though.

the sigma is more expensive. looks to be a little better for sharpness and bokeh but it will be less competant on AF.

Apologies, I didn't compare prices thoroughly... I only saw the listing on Amazon for the Nikon for over 900$ ?? unless my eyes were deceiving me.. and the Sig for around 400$

You guys are talking about the Nikon 1.4 G right?

I was hoping you would chime in Rooz. Thanks for pointing that out, that is an important factor.. for low lights. I fell in love with that 50 of yours ever since your thread.

And I thought I was going to be Sigma Rider... .

    hhhhmmmmmm

Picked up a SB-24 the other day, love it ... looking into Wireless triggers and 2 other Speedies... and Softboxes....

Turning into strobist by the second.

Lens or light..... lens or light............

My 10-20 is pretty handy for what I'm doing at the moment, but I feel will be limited on some of the upcoming projects.

And yes, it's the only lens I own at the moment.

    Thanks guys, keep em comin.

Maybe a visit to the Optometrist is in order.
    The AF-S 50mm f/1.4G is only Aus$599.00 = US$407.00 over here.
I'll do you a deal for one for US$850.00 delivered to CA.

Ok guys, this says the Sigma costs $180 MORE than the new Nikon. It doesn't say that either lens costs $180.
