    Moorilla International - Quarter Finals

I had a serious go at shooting manual this evening and don't I feel like a total fool..lol I think I need to head back to school after this little effort. I will have another go tomorrow, but in the mean time I here a quick selection from my manual attempt. I know the angles wont be to everyones taste.

What lens are you using Dave....my 70-200 (wasn't allowed anything longer than 200mm) didn't get the bokeh you are getting so I'm guessing your's is 300mm or greater ?

I too tried the "manual" strategy after our last brief discussion. I got lots of over-exposed shots ....so went back to Av.

300mm is correct with a combination of the 1.4x and 2x converters.

I have borrowed (Hired..) CW's 500mm for the cricket this weekend so will be taking that this evening, might even slip the 1.4x on and take it out to 700mm 5.6...lol.

I will be giving the manual another shot tonight as I really do want to use it more.

I tried my Soligor x1.7 TC on the 70-200 but it spent too much time hunting for focus. I've tested the Soligor before on stationary subjects and all seemed ok....but struggles on moving subjects (not sure if I'll get better results with the anticipated 50D)

Perhaps time to invest in a Canon TC.
