Nah ... 5fps is where it tops out.

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

yeah, unfortunately. maybe a firmware update can address this. even small point and shoots can increase their burst rate with downsized images.

Things to consider before running your "flap" ...
One of the restrictions that the A900 has over the A700 is the unique method that SONY has designed, which it lifts the focusing mirror. It's not a simple flap like most of them, it actually is a hinged lifting assembly, called the "parallel-link", which literally lifts the mirror out of the way of the shutter.

I suspect you will need to overcome the mechanic limitations of that type of movement to get the increased speed you desire.
