The face detection feature can act quite surprisingly. I took a pic of a party table recently with the FD feature on - and surprisingly the camera detected a face on a cheese plate and locked the focus on the invisible face. That was quite a surprise! I tried to estimate visually what the heck could resemble a face there on the plate but couldn't. Tried again with the camera - and it found the same "face" in the same place. Awkward, maybe it was a ghost

Um... maybe it was a slice of Swiss cheese (the holes) that looked like the eyes and mouth?
