I was really talking about MF with a macro lens.
Frank said "I must get a Macro" but rereading the post he was referring to his Quantaray.
If you're going to use something other than a Macro then I totally agree that it depends on the lens.
Some AF Teles are just impossible to use in MF even with a good OVF.

Each to his own Rooz, I tried an AF Macro and didn't like it.
    Went back to MF.

I went back and reworked this image I posted a while back. I applied the Lucis Effect again. Then lowered the effect to 75%. Then I added a layer mask and removed the effect from the face and hands.

    Frank,

Did you just remove from the guy on the left? I would suggest removing the effect from the face and hands of both guys.

Either way, I like this image. It has a Norman Rockwell goes modern grunge quality.

I think I did remove it from both men. I know I left the facial hair. I will go back and check.

None of my lenses are "Macro" lenses. Guess I should attempt to get one and learn
I don't see with the naked eye in the viewfinder well enough to use manual focus. That is an issue on a lot of stuff I shoot because I can't see that it is oof....

You're not alone. The Pentamirror OVFs of the lower end Sonys (and others) are difficult.
Even with an A900 I still want better (never satisfied).
This is one area where EVFs (like in the A33/55) offer the promise of better MF with the magnification function.
