Thanks for the advice, I'll try it out.

I should say though that the ducklings shot was a 100% crop, all others resized to 20% of original size.

Would a 100% crop magnify the apparent sharpness or dull it because the image is bigger?

A crop is a matter of degree. The usual convention says lop off no more than 30%, otherwise you risk degradation of the image, when you enlarge it.

Of course, the A900 is a different animal, as it is stuffed with a lot more pixels to cremate.

So ... you know how much you sacrificed to the "framing bit bucket", what do you think?

Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

nice macro brian, i love those bees. although the contrast needs a bump up and the PP of the gaussian blur needs to be turned down a notch or 5, it looks way strange like that.

It's good to see some new posters in the thread.
Just to reiterate dr4gons first post

So if we could, let's have a few simple guidelines:
One picture per person per day max.
    Every picture must be different.
    EXIF Info (including lens used).
    Comments/caption on the shot.
