A long time ago, when Don was a just wee-lad, in 1966, the Ideal Toy Company released a new collection called "Captain Action." This was a twelve-inch pose-able figure that had a collection of licensed costumes and masks that it could change into, becoming the visage of several different superheroes and characters. The series kind of lost popularity going into the 70's... but then, in 1996, another toy company (Playing Mantis) took up the challenge and re-released the series, with licensing only from certain groups and, again, without having obtained licensing from the more popular characters, the second-release did poorly and production ceased.
Captain Action (2012) has, once again, risen from the ashes of the past, having successfully reacquired some of the more popular character licenses.
I had a chance to mess around in the studio and in light of the upcoming "Avengers"-movie release, on May 4, 2012, I present Captain Action as "Captain America":
The movie looks pretty good... its SONY!

Still in the studio... "toying" with ideas. Again, with the Captain's new release... I went with the Amazing Spider-Man outfit he can change into and came up with this:
and just to keep the ball rolling... some future outfit considerations:
Read about "Mjolnir"- the Uru hammer by clicking on the image
All images created with the SONY a850 w/ SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG EX IF HSM. Editing was done with Adobe Photoshop CS5

Suggestions...
One of the suggestions I received when posting the earlier images was to make it look more "3D."
While that is all fine and whatnot... it takes time to set it all up. So, in the meantime, I'm tossing out this shot... to temporarily cover the bases.

The site seems real quiet. I have been checking it every few days and haven't seen many posts. I bought Don's Tamron 60mm Macro lens. Here are a images I took. All were taken hand held.

Both nice bugs. Like the fly's colour and the mantis' sharp forearms

Diesel Days
One of the great things about Illinois (I know, I know - we know debt like no other state), is the Illinois Railway Museum. It's about 40 minutes along I-90, going west from Chicago, out in Union, IL, but still is a terrific way to demonstrate the history of the railroad... with stuff that still works.
Diesel Days is just one such demonstration, because they brought out one of the most famous diesels, the "Nebraska Zepher", and ran it up and down the tracks a few times. Truly an amazing historical train and the coach air conditioning is the same system they used from 1936! 76 years --> still operational and... cool.
Anyway, here is one of the shots from today with the mighty Zepher under power!
...and here's a look at that fanny... 350-feet later!
