    The fact is, Frank, almost all lenses do this effect EXCEPT a tilt/shift, which is designed to counteract the effect.

    It is a perspective, when shooting close, that when you change the shooting angle to something higher or lower than you are, the "vanishing points" change and plane at which the light strikes the sensor is not perpendicular.. If you went with a more straight-on shot (perpendicular), it would be nowhere near (heh heh) as dramatic.
