    Exclamation HVL-F58AM Compatability Question

    Hi all,
I'm new to the site as you can tell. I have owned my Sony a-100k since just before Christmas last year. I love the camera, as it does well for my needs. I haven't purchased a flash yet, mainly because of cost. But, that being said I think it is now time to get one (before the holiday picture rampage). I am considering getting the HVL-F58AM, the 42 or I may opt to go for the Sigma EF-530 DG Super. I don't really need anything really fancy, just something that will not be a waste of my money. Again, I do not take pictures to sell them, just mainly of friends, family and of course vacations.

I have done a good bit of research and have kind of narrowed it down to these three options. I am open to suggestion because, like I said, I do not want to waste money.

My biggest question is, will the 58 work with my a-100?
Because, if you read the compatibility chart on Sony Style it lists just about every alpha camera except the a-100.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Chris

    Thanks!
Also, is it worth spending the extra $, or is the Sigma a better "bargain"?

Just by reading some of Don's posts, I think I already know what he will say...

I would avoid the generic flashes like Sigma since they don't have the wireless features that the Sony's have. The wireless triggering off of the camera without any extra equipment is awesome. You can expand your lighting creativity and it's great for still shots of tabletop arrangements, food, or whatever.

The A100's hotshoe should be identical to the rest of the alphas so it should fit. After all the F42AM fits on all of them, so I don't see why not.

The bounce shift is also great for portraits and keeping the upright orientation in portrait mode and bouncing off of a ceiling above you, not just to the side.

I really like mine and think it's totally worth it.
