life of Li ion batteries
a few questions about Li-ion batteries:
Is there a limit to the number of times a Li-ion battery can be recharged? Ni-MH batteries are usually rated as rechargeable up to 1000 times but don't really see those kinds of ratings for Li-ion batteries.
are Li-ion batteries also prone to overcharging = performance drop, like NiMH batteries?
do Li -ion batteries "die" or suffer from a major performance drop after a certain number of years, regardless of how often they are used? if so, how long?
do Li-ion batteries self discharge like Ni-MH batteries?
thanks for your responses.

As far as I can remember, my IBM 760EL laptop had a Lion battery. I bought that laptop secondhand and the battery was dated 1997. It still had about 90 minutes worth of power in it when the laptop died in 2004. As far as I know laptop batteries are composed of AA-type cells.

I own a Canon Digital Ixus and Ixus 500 (Powershot S100 & S500) as well as 3 NB-1LH batteries! One battery is 5 years old and the performance is still good as ever. Like any other battery, li-ion batteries discharge but at a much slower rate compared to AA NiMHs

So I guess I wouldn't have to worry about my NB-4L then.. it says that it has 300 re-charge or something like that dunno.. but yhaa it should last me a few years then.

Don't worry - Canon batteries are long-lasting - and charge quickly too.

That (SD300 with movie limit) was what I read in the Canon website.

Quote: "Individual clips are limited to 3 minutes"
Must be site mistake which I thought was true.
