    manual settings help

hi ive had my canon a95 for about a month and i still am depended on the auto settings. its a shame because it has all these built in manual settings but i have no idea how to use them. and i know if i did, i wouldnt get the less then desirable results that sometime show up with the auto setting. so if someone could explain what each means and how to use them it would be great.

    Manual Settings Help

This question would be better posed in the camera specific (Canon)forum where other A95 owners may be able to better help with specific settings. I am assuming that you did not receive the operating instructions with the camera as they usually have an explanation of all the settings and how to use them, from there it is simply a case of experimenting with the settings and learning from trying the different settings. The following link has more information on terms such as shutter and aperture etc. that may also be of help.

When you ask "what each means and how to use them" with respect to camera settings, you're asking for a rather thorough explanation of the whole field of photography, which is what these settings are all about. No short answer will really help you as much as will learning the basics of photography. I suggest you click on one of Dennis Curtin's on-line courses and get some basic help there, to start with.

It's even easier than that. Just read Jeffs review of the A95 here and it will run you through the settings.

I would suggest also a tutorial on cameras explaining White Balance, Aperture and Shutter Priority, and Full Manual settings. If you google.com and type in digital camera tutorials there is a wealth of general knowlege that will apply to any camera, digital or film.

Or if you want to pay for it:
