    Talking Oshkosh AirVenture 2008

The weekend is finally here! Oshkosh, b'gosh!

Yeah ... fast jets ripping through the sky ... slow home-builts chuggin' along ... parachutists darting inbetween ... and show stopping bombers threatening to pump ordnance all over hell and back!

I am hoping for at least a thousand shots to file through ... and deliver something worthwhile. Prior years have been quite fruitful ... and now, with my variety of SONY-mount lenses ... bring it on!

Last year, my glass was split between Canon and SONY ... this time ... we're all one happy family of glass. So, when the Raptors go into rapture ... they will be captured.

Wish me luck, guys. The heat is on ... in afterburner.

Don, you might need a hard hat. They said the crash was caused by the glare off a photographers lens. LOL

Talking Going through the images ... backwards

Just got back ... and here was the final airshow flight of the day ... the "Heritage Flight." Why not start there, eh?

Talking about getting close-up. The F-22 with the pilot in it, was being towed to the end of the runway ... and pulled up in front of our photographic position ... the plane stopped and my brother and I chatted with the guy. It was hilarious. Only in my life do these opportunities seem to happen. Must be the lens! LOL I had hiim throw me a wave.

    "Open says-a-me!"

Okay ... how often can you get a Raptor-series of the Weapons Doors opening? They open mighty quick ... to deploy those weapons.

    @ the SONY a700's 5 fps ... here's mine ...

    Cool V-22 Osprey

The Tilt-Rotor "Osprey" V-22 is kind of a strange aircraft ... because you would think it i bigger than it really is.

Here was making a run and a turn at the crowd ...

Size: 200.8 KB

You can see the two dudes hanging out of the back.

Then as it was hovering, another dude was hanging out the side.

Anyway ... here's a "rear hatch" shot to show just how tight the room is. Like a small bus, actually. Watch your head!

And a plane that still has a mission today, sixty years after it was designed ... the B-52 (The "BUFF")

The announcer told the Sunday-crowd that the BUFF was on a mission, but got permission to do a two-pass fly-by for the crowd, since it was in the area. Two passes ...

    and it was gone!

    Talking You gotta laugh ...

One of the more comical shots I got was this one ...

I guess that's the only way a Canon 500mm f/4 lenses can get a subject ... if it is right in front of it.

    A few more, later on.

    Great show!

    Talking Rocker Racer

OKay ... obviously there are those for who a "prop" or a mere "jet engine" just ain't gettin' it done.

I present the "Rocket Racer", which is a real kick-in-the-pants, even if you are prepared for ... ignition.
