How come exif data is no longer available on this site?

    Cheers, Don

Exif data was ever available? Didn't know that. If I'm ever that interested I just download the picture, 99% of the time it's intact (less a few members from the Sony forum who ALWAYS strip it out).

    FYI
    3.2 sec
    Aperture Priority
    ISO100
    14MM

The last few pictures (less the boat) were from an... interesting little day trip. I was testing out a few sets of tripod legs that I'd bought, a set of Manfrotto 190PROXBs and a set of Cullmann 2503s. Plan was Manfrottos for hiking, Cullmanns for everything else.

The Manfrottos literally broke the first shot I set them up on (one of the leg locks popped), while I got a few rock-steady, multi-second exposures on the Cullmann, including the two I have up here, both of which were on the side of a riverbed.

The Manfrottos went back to the store and I'm now using a set of tripod legs possibly older than I am as my everyday tripod. Like I said, god bless West German engineering.

I guess I was lucky with tripods

First one I used was a Velbon hand me down probably thirty years old and worked fine for my Kodak P&S and barely adequate for studio work with a Mamiya 35mm.

I liked the all metal Velbon so I researched and bought the Sherpa 550R with a tilt/pan head. Very quickly bought the ball head and quick release plates. Works fine up to the 12-60. With the 50-200 you set the focal point and tighten accounting for about 1/8" sag

For the 50-200 and Bigma I settled on the Slik Pro 700 DX, it weights in at 7 lbs and will support 15 lbs. It sounds heavy but settles nicely on your shoulder for shortish walks...

Last stab at processing the bigma + ec 20 moon shots from the other night.

Shutter priority 1/160, + 1 EV, iso 100, f 12.6 (wide open). The only changes I made in Studio is a small crop, noise filter to high and convert to jpeg.

Then in Elements 7 I made some lighting, brightness and contrast adjustments, ran it through Noiseware and a +1 sharpening in FastStone Image Viewer.

Having a senior moment here but perhaps it's only the off site hosted images that the exif is available for ???

I'm not having that problem - just downloading the pictures and opening them with ACDsee Pro. As I said, as long as it the EXIF hasn't been stripped on purpose, it's intact.

As it is, I paid a grand total of $20 for the Cullmann, so I guess that's pretty good tripod luck. The Manfrotto I was able to get a full refund for since I bought it retail and local.

First try for a bird-in-flight picture, couldn't really find a better subject, so this gull will have to do.

Okay, so I figured out that I shouldn't try and upload 3.2MB pictures...

I've been practicing my framing. Pretty effective technique! In one case it made a "good" shot a "very good" shot, and in the other "pointless" to "good" or even "very good!"

Subjects: Fisherman on Mekong River at Laos-Thailand border, Khon Kaen as seen from the 8th floor of the Buddhist temple.
