Raven, I did have the CPL on the 12-60, but not certain it added much. The plane was constantly turning relative to the sun so I was constantly turning the filter as well. I mainly had it to help cut window reflections, but they were plastic/Lexan and not glass. Plastics do not have strong polarization in reflections.
Heading to a friend's wedding this weekend (attending, I don't do people shots), so I hope to get to editing my massive Alaska photo cache when I return.
Damn, sometimes the light is close to magic, but the prefocusing fails. As I was shooting I could tell I was not in focus, but moving even the extra inch closer scared him off. After I looked at it I saw how great the red of the feeder reflected off the iridescent ruby throat. The highlight behind the tail was a bonus.
Cor what a time to focus on the feeder. I feel your pain with that one. It would have been fantastic. We ought to have a separate thread for shots like this titled "The one that got away".

Kayaking in Abra Cove in Aialik Bay, AK. I had the E-520 in an AquaPac. The E-5 fits, but barely. I have also learned that the 12-60 is a little too big a diameter. When it is in the lens 'snout' you can barely turn it to zoom as it binds up in the vinyl.
Looking at this one I see I pushed the color a bit too much in post.
Thought it was about time I posted something.
Red admiral landed in our garden this afternoon, hadn't seen one for quite a while so I managed to grab a few shots with my new 14-150 lens.
