MPT, those seem to have a soft, weird look I have been noticing a lot from my camera recently, but I don't know where it comes from.

PhillD that landscape is excellent. I like every thing in it.

The bird one is good to kgosden.

Thanks for the complements guys much appreciated. I'd say that is the best shot I've got from my E620 so far. It's been a mixed bag so far I like the features but am still not sure about the IQ but maybe that's for another thread. Interesting you mention that soft look Raven I think the E620 seems to be very prone to that. I've settled on +2 sharpness & it still looks soft sometimes. Mind you the sunset was done on scene mode i'm afraid.

Something I can actually post! Amazing. This was for a test batch of photos for a client that ultimately went in another direction.

The lighting is good, but it seems under exposed by about a stop, which apart from the paper being grey led to some colorful patterns on the (presumably black) handle.

Actually, it's a grey backdrop and the patterns you see on the handle exist in real life. It's a stippled black handle and there's a sparkler lamp being used to bring up the texture.

Edit: To be fair, this was the unused version of this set - the other set was a B&W conversion with a big contrast push to make it "pop". I can't actually post any of those, though.

Got it, good to know. I still think it's underexposed some, I'd prefer to see part of the shiny blade come closer to white (which is how I should have said it the first time I guess).

    Jekotas,

The lighting looks good to me. Nice and even with just enough shadow to give it some depth.

Thanks for the feedback guys. This was a tester for a catalogue shoot I'm doing, about 40 items. That particular knife isn't going in the catalogue but it's a good test because of the need for a very high dynamic range - the stippled texture on the handle had to stand out against the blade.

For reference, I was asked to copy this particular style: http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?...productID=3095

After getting back a test page from the printer... well... yeah, didn't *pop* enough in print so we're working on something else.

Yes it looked pretty good to me too. That contrast range must have been tricky to get right. For me it's a factual type shot. What I mean is it seems to reflect the details in the article accurately without any sales impact. I guess that's what you mean't by adding some pop in the customer version. Shame you couldn't post them but good to see you are making your photography pay though.

    Jekostas,

Yours looks far better than the crappy sample you linked to.
