This little guy was tough to capture. It was quite dark in the gardens today and hard to manually focus the 50-200. It did not have a prayer of autofocusing. I took about 30 shots trying to catch him in mid-croak, this was the only one that was mostly sharp. At least in this area I was able to use a monopod to better my odds. I was right at the close focus distance for the lens. These frogs are small enough to sit on your thumbnail. Good thing they don't mind the flash.
Thanks Blindeye. The hardest part is finding these little ones. The Atlanta Botanical Garden has them roaming free in the main conservatory which is filled with dense tropical plants. I usually spot 5-10 every trip, but that can take up to an hour. Out of that number barely 1-2 will be in a location that I can actually shot from the walkways. I wish the few with him fully pumped mid-croak had been in focus.
