I have one of those ExpoDisc white balance filters for calibrating, but it seems to require too much fiddling around. Of course, if I learned to use it well it might save me fiddling on the post side.

You can always use a white sheet of paper and one-touch white balance. I tried it as a dedicated button, but got too many shots missed shots that instead ended up as a very poor color in the next shot.

I have done the white paper method as well, but it is still a bit too much trouble. And, like you, I have forgotten that I set a custom WB resulting in a few odd colored shots.

Above Lake Toxaway, NC on Sunday. Straight from the camera; the polarizer can make things pop a bit too much. But it was a pretty Fall day and it did look like this through the sunglasses and windshield. Great day to hunt waterfalls and drive with the top down.

Wow, great fall colors. No trees like that here, but I tried a few from a common location.

    Raven,

I like the second one. Too bad you have two different fence posts. That steel one is a bit jarring to the eye.

Yeah, I have seen fences with all wooden posts but they aren't common. Usually I try to avoid the metal ones.

They're great colourful shots guys very nice with loads of detail too.
Haven't done much myself recently so here's something a bit different that I did yesterday morning. I was a bit too late getting out of bed for a sunrise but did get this almost sepia looking silouette.

    Phil,

Nice shot. I am nearly always too lazy for sunrise shots. Much more of a night person so it is generally sunsets. I do miss the morning mist that early risers capture.

    Phil,

I was busy taking similar shots on Friday afternoon.
