Here's a side-by-side that is ... kind of scary, huh?
That is the TAMRON Adaptall2 MF 135mm f/2.5 alongside the SONY SAL-135F18Z ...
It's like comparing a VW bug against a VW bus! Same image size, but entirely different IQ and sharpness. Honestly, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Things have certainly changed ... in the world of photography.

Look, I did not create the optical laws of the Universe ... I simply learned to deal with them.
Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.
