    I wouldn't sell.

The D80 is a great body and the setup you've got matched with it is about right.

The D300 has two things over the D80, better ISO quality and better AF. If you need these two things, then yes, go for it. If not, then hold onto what you've got.

I say this because I think you'll get hurt by selling your current equipment. If you don't use the 12-24 or the SB600, then just sell those and buy new lenses.

FWIW, I use a D70s and a D300. I've been in only ONE situation were my D70s couldn't capture the images and I had to use my D300 (uber low light, indoor tennis). In reality my D70s is my primary and my D300 is my backup.

The D300 has much more than ISO and AF over the D80...but we won't get into specifics here.

When the D90 is expected to have the D300's LCD and Live View, and a similar sensor (think D70 -> D200), lower FPS and a few other things I think it's best to play the waiting game.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the D80 has been a great camera for me. And I really wasn't planning to upgrade, but a few things got me thinking.

First, I shoot a lot of sports and going from 3 fps to 6-8 fps is VERY appealing. Next, I'm beginning to shoot more bands and even assisted on a wedding shoot, so the high ISO capability of the D300 is again, very appealing. I shoot a lot of available light, so selling the SB600 won't kill me. Actually looking at the SB800 anyway

Again, the D80 has served me well...but I'm longing for higher fps and better high iso performance. If things weren't so tight around the house I'd get the D300 body and keep my D80 as a backup. But that can't happen at this point in time. So maybe sometime in the future, after I shoot a dozen weddings I'll get myself a D3 and keep the D300 as a backup

I'd keep the SB600 - reason being if you plan on doing any wireless multi-flash work later on you will need one anyway, with the SB800 on-camera.

if postage wasnt so much of an issue to Oz i'd buy that in a heartbeat. you should get more for the 12-24mm. the resale value of that lens with all packaging etc is right up there with the 70/200. its a highly sought after lens on the used market..i've been looking for one for the last couple of months.
