    Good shots.

    We have the same kind of woodpecker (Arizona Woodpecker) at our hanging feeder, too (only ours usually has food in it). The wife has taken quite shine to the lil' feller. She's been snappin' him with her Canon S5 IS. I'll see if I can rifle some shots from her card, later on. Seems a little strange to have them up here, too, especially with the cool climate we've been having.

    Looking the migration maps ... this little guy belongs in your neck of the woods and down south in Mexico, not in northern Illinois.

    I have seen that woodpecker several times so i decided to put out a feeder to bring him in but the squirrel found it first and ate all the food first. I didn't think the squirrel could get up the metal pole. Silly me. LOL

    Food is a great motivator. You already know what it can drive people to do ...

    My guess is that he found your feeder empty and just hopped a freight up here ... when he heard through "hobo-wire" that ours was still full.
