curves and shooting raw

If you're shooting in Raw mode, does it matter if the custom curve is loaded on your camera, or can you apply whatever curve you like during the processing of the raw image?

I'm trying to decide if I need to buy Nikon Capture to take advantage of custom curves.

Go to www.nikonusa.com and click on "Software Downloads" under photography. Now you should find a list of Nikon products. If you look around under Nikon Capture you can download a trial version of Capture 4.0. You'll probably also want to get the updater for version 4.1.3. This is a free 30 day trial.
