It was grey lol I was just happy to be able to clear it up. But if it was brown then how did I do ??? LOL

I gave this issue some thought, last night, after seeing your image.

I have spent a few bucks getting my camera/computer/printer color managed, so that what I see on my camera is what I see on my computer and is what I finally print out ... if everything is working properly. I use a tool called a spectrophotometer, which careful measures the display screen and the print out color and keeps it continually in alignment with a bi-weekly recalibration.

So ... I kind of knew the seal's true color by knowing what my computer was displaying from your original shot. I asked to confirm the color because in order for that "brown" color to happen from the camera, something would have to be seriously messed up in the sensor's processed image ... in the camera. Either the color variables have been changed, filters applied or other issues would be involved. If a "camera reset" did not clear it up, I would have suggested you take the camera back for repair.

In other words, your camera should be reproducing the colors it sees. Now, after post processing, anything is possible (you could theorectically turn the seal "red") ...



but if the camera is shooting true ... when White Balance is compensated for, that seal should be as "gray" as the light reflecting off it.

Brown is YOUR color of choice, not the camera's. He kind of looks like an oversized otter.

Nice otter, I have seen a few around here but that was before I had this camera. I left without my camera and as I was driving by one of the roads near the bay there was a blue heron in the water. Maybe next time.
