a100 replacement

just wanted to drop you all a hint that there will be a replacement for the a100 due out in a couple of months. the a100 is discontinued but there is an entry dslr replacement slated from sony soon.

this is all the information that I have on the topic, but i will keep you all posted if i hear anything else.

Well, it's not like I didn't mention this, back in November. Anyway, yeah ... still need a low priced intro-rig to avail to the teens ... and the "I must have low-cost stuff" folks. Especially in light of a barrel of oil crossing the $100 threshold! Cheese Louise!

It's going to cost more to drive to the camera shop than it will to order with overnight shipping!

Remember, by the time people get to the SONY DSLR forum page, the decision to buy a SONY has usually already been made, probably on the order of 90%.

I know I didn't go to the CANON DSLR page until I was well into my third Canon-mount APS-C lens. I wish I had gotten some feedback, sooner. It probably would have saved me a grunch of money ... waiting only another eight months for the SONY α100 to marry to all my older Minolta glass, instead of mistakenly settling for the Canon EOS 20D and providing folks with the deal of the year ... feeling Canon might eventually get a clue about in-the-body-IS. Good gosh, what was I thinking? LOL

Cripes ... you complain when I do push it to the bottom and then when I back off ... man, you can't even buy a break.

Anyway, I thought it was rather cool lookin' ... so I shared it.

This one was with the 50mm f/1.4 ... but, I thought the TAMRON was a better shot.

I'd spend 1000's of dollars on camera bodies, lenses and lighting too to make bad photos of... camera bodies, lenses and such too

And use in-body IS while doing that (at 1/160th sec, ISO 100, 50mm!) too!

Ah me ... the days be cold ... enjoy the snow, rain or whatever else Mom Nature is tossin' your way.

Besides, you're just ticked about the TAMRON SP AF 180mm f/3.5 Di LD hangin' off the front of that beastie, aren't ya? (Psst ... That's okay, Coldrain, I'd be pretty torqued myself, having to use only the 90mm f/2.8 for all my macro work.)

Anyway, I'm still workin' on the lighting ... need some different diffusing. Current space is a little too tight for the umbrellas and I don't own a light tent (see "Edit"). I know, I know ... back to the studio, then.

Edit: Wound up going out for lunch to Calumet Photographic and came back with a photography cocoon (aka a "light tent") and a snoot. Some lighting improvements to see ... what we can see, eh?

It will be in Sony's best interests to ensure that this camera at least exceeds the Nikon D40x & Canon EOS 400D/XTi in high ISO capability.

ISO 1600 performance turned me off from getting a Sony a100 when I was DSLR shopping.
