    Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR

Hey everyone.. I recently ordered a Nikon D80 w/ 18-135mm kit lens and some other goodies (which will be here after the new year) and I am interested in adding the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8D G-AFS ED-IF VR Lens. While doing research on this lens, I have noticed that the D80 is not on the list of compatible cameras for the Auto-focusing feature. Does that mean that with my D80, I would only be able to use this lens while Manually focusing, or is the list that I looked at just not updated? Also, within the next 6-8 months, I will be adding the D300 to my arsenal and noticed that it is not on that list either. Will the case be the same for using this lens on the D300? If someone could help me out here, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

The 70-200 f2.8 VR will autofocus fine on your D80 and the D300. The list that you mention probably doesn't list the newer cameras since that lens came out before the D80 and D300.

I was just looking at the lens on various websites. But it's more than likely what was already said. That the lens came out before the D80 and D300, so they were not on the list of compatible models, and then the item info was probably never updated once those cameras came out.

    I've used the 70-200VR on a D70s, D80, D200, and the D300.

    TRUST ME. It works

Also, the 70-200 is an awesome piece of glass. You'll like it.
