Any plans for a new Sigma?
I'm considering who I might invest in later on this year - at the moment the prime candidate seems to be Canon, with the 40D or maybe the full-frame 5D if prices fall a bit. But I'm keeping an open mind - and as such want to know if Sigma have any plans for a new DSLR. The SD14 looks interesting, but with the 4.6 effective megapixels it's just too low, despite the triple layered '14 megapixel' sensor. It has a high-resolution mode, but that's interpolated, so I'd rather die.
So, anyone heard anything? Couldn't find anything myself, but thought I'd try here.
Gear List:
Canon 40D + Sigma 18-50mm + Canon 55-250mm

How about a small one almost like a dSLR? The new Sigma DP1 is coming with the biggest sensor ever on a compact:

I wonder if you have even seen pictures from a Sigma SD-14... incredible sharp detail, vivid colors.
If I could go back to when I made my DSLR purchase, I would get the SD14 instead. I slept on that one...

Afaik both a SD15 and a DP2 are in the works and mockups were presented at Photokina 2008.

Hi
over at the Sigmauserforum they say that the SD15 will come around March or May 2009, but will not have big surprises. Actually there is an interesting speculation going on there, what comes next with Foveon sensor. See here:

Well, May has come and gone and still no SD15.
My take is the recent doubling of SD14 prices might be heralding SD15 introduction. With SD14s selling at circa US$325 earlier this year, the 14/15 price differential would have been just overwhelming. But with SD14 prices now back above US$700, a US$1200 to US$1500 entry point price for the SD15 has been set up.
The above assumes, as earlier announced, that the SD15 will have the same sensor as the SD14. If the SD15 instead has a new, better, sensor . . . well . . . my analysis is worthless and does not apply. An SD15 with an improved sensor could compete easily with the SD14 at any price.
